Man arrested in connection with death of his Irish wife

The body of a 64-year-old Irish woman was discovered at her home on Savornin Lohman Street in the city of ‘s-Hertogenbosch (Den Bosch) on Monday.

The Irish woman's husband was at the scene when officers arrived to the house and was subsequently arrested.

He was detained for questioning as part of the investigation into her death which is being treated as suspicious and he is due to appear in court today.

It is not clear how the woman died or what injuries she had sustained.

Her identity has not been released by Dutch authorities

Neighbours told local news website Brabants Dagblad the couple’s house had been sold recently and they were planning to move to Ireland

“The woman’s husband, who was present in the home, was arrested and taken to the police station for further investigation. The arrested man is being arraigned on Thursday, November 12th at the Right Commissioner,” police said in a statement.

The Department of Foreign Affairs is providing consular assistance to the Irish woman’s family.
