Knife attack teen bailed

A 16-YEAR-OLD Dublin boy has been granted bail over an alleged knife attack on another youth.

The boy is accused of assault causing harm and production of a knife in connection with an incident in Coolock in the city's north-side on December 1st last.

Judge John O'Connor heard that the teenager made no reply to the charge. Garda John Pirollo said there was no objection to bail provided the teenager agreed to obey conditions.

The boy, who was accompanied to court by his father, was ordered to obey a 8pm to 8am curfew, and engage with social workers and have no contact with the alleged injured party.

Judge O'Connor said that included phone or social media contact. The boy was also ordered to stay away from the scene of the alleged attack and to be sober and intoxicant free at all times.

Asked if he understood what would happen if he broke the conditions, the boy replied: “Yeah, go into custody”. The case was adjourned until January 28th.
