Donna Hutch, niece of Gerry ‘The Monk’ Hutch, has been shown mercy by the courts after tearing up before a judge.

The 42-year-old was charged with the theft of a wallet and a mobile phone, according to the Sun.

Appearing before Dublin District Court, Hutch broke down while her solicitor Philip Hannon appealed for the woman’s bail.

The Monk’s niece was also accused of possessing stolen tickets to a gig of composer Ennio Morricone.

Mr Hannon explained that the loss of another uncle, Eddie Hutch Senior, had impacted severely on his client.

The defendant became extremely upset, and appeared to faint briefly, when Judge Michael Walsh explained that he had previously granted her bail on grounds that she did not appear before the court again.

The Judge then stated: “She has gone through a lot over the past week and on compassionate grounds I’m going to give her bail.”
