Dublin motor dealer facing clocked car rap

A motor dealer based in Dublin is facing trial accused of selling a clocked car.

Jonathan McSherry, 35, of Monastery Road, Clondalkin, Dublin is facing a charge under the Consumer Protection Act.

It is alleged that he engaged in misleading commercial practice by providing false information in relation to the kilometre reading on the odometer of a 2009-reg Nissan Qashqai.

It allegedly happened at Station Road Autos in Clondalkin Commercial Park, Station Road, Dublin 22 on July 17, 2014.

The prosecution has been brought by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, who also allege that providing the false information was likely to cause the average customer to make a transactional decision that they otherwise would not have made.

The case was listed before Judge John Brennan at Dublin District Court and he ordered that the trial would take place on Thursday.

The court heard the prosecution intend to call up to eight witnesses.
