Dublin man accused of claiming €30k in benefits
A DUBLIN man is facing trial accused of claiming almost €30,000 while he was working.
Paul Finn, 40, with an address on the Longmile Road in Walkinstown appeared at the Dublin District Court where he faces five counts of claiming Jobseeker's Allowance on various dates from 2010 until 2013.
Judge John O'Neill was told the alleged fraud was about €29,600 and he refused jurisdiction for the case to be dealt with at district court level.
This means it will go forward to to the circuit court, which can impose lengthier sentences. No plea was entered and the accused was ordered to appear again in September.
A book of evidence has to be prepared by the DPP's office before he is returned for trial. Legal aid was granted.
