John Dundon's ex has avoided jail for a brutal nightclub glassing that left her victim needing 23 stitches to her face.

Ciara Killeen, 32, of Hyde Road, Prospect, Limerick pleaded guilty in Ennis Circuit Court to the assault causing harm to Mary McCarthy at Queens nightclub, Abbey Street, Ennis, Co Clare, at 1.10am on November 1st 2015 contrary to Section 3 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act.

That charge can carry a five-year sentence but the judge said that if he jailed Killeen her children would be left without a mother or a father and this was part of his decision to hand down a two-and-a-half year suspended sentence.

Her former partner Dundon is locked up for life for the murder of Shane Geoghegan in 2008.

Killeen also received a suspended sentence for an attack on Alice Collins’ jeep in 2010.

Collins is the mother of April Collins who would go on to give evidence that helped lock up the Dundon gang.
