A judge has dismissed a murder charge against a 25-year-old woman accused of murdering of a man in Dublin in 2014.

Laura Dempsey of no fixed address was charged with the murder of 33-year-old Kieran Farrelly at Killarney Court, Killarney Street, near Portland Row on October 26, 2014.

She was due to go on trial at the Central Criminal Court next June (2017). However, she applied to the court to dismiss the murder charge under Section 4E of the Criminal Justice Act 1999.

Ms Justice Isobel Kennedy delivered her ruling today.

She said she did not see that there was a sufficient case to put her on trial.

“I dismiss the charge of murder against Ms Dempsey,” she said.

Ms Dempsey smiled at her barrister after Ms Justice Kennedy gave her decision.
