Backside shoving confrontation leads to heabutt in pub

A backside shoving confrontation in the smoking section of a pub resulted in a man being headbutted in the nose.

The incident, which took place in Henehan’s Pub in Westport, CO Mayo, involved 32-year-old Gerard Bradly, who pleaded guilty to headbutting Paul Hynes on the 3rd of July 2016.

The Mayo News reports that the two men had been in the smoking area of the pub when Mr Bradley accused Mr Hynes of repeatedly pushing back into him with his backside.

“Fed up with the nudging”, Mr Bradley said he “lost the head” with Mr Hynes and while standing behind him pushed him forward using his backside, then when Mr Hynes turned around he head butted him in the nose.

The court heard that Mr Bradley has two public order convictions from 2011 and that he received a six month suspended sentence in 2005 for assault.

Judge Devins adjourned sentencing for a year to see if Mr Bradley reoffended.
