Man arrested after suspect package found near Garda station

The army bomb squad are examining a suspicious package which has been discovered beside Store Street garda station in central Dublin.

The alarm was raised at around 6.30am.

Gardai immediately sealed off the scene and closed the road, as well as the Red Luas Line and the back of Busaras bus station.

The bomb squad arrived just before 7am and an inspection of the suspect package immediately commenced.

The Jacobs Inn hostel was also evacuated during the operation.

UPDATE: 8.10am:

Gardai have arrested a man in his 40s in connection with the incident.

He is currently detained under Section 30, Offences Against the State Act, 1939 at Irishtown Garda Station.
