Check your finger! Rings worth €4k found in Dublin pub toilet
A woman out for a casual drink with her husband got quite a surprise when she visited the loo – as she found a wedding ring and an engagement ring in the bathroom thought to be worth in the region of €4,000.
Amanda McKiernan made the discovery at the Hole in the Wall pub near the Phoenix Park at around 6pm on Saturday, May 9, according to a report on independent.ie.
Realising they were worth quite a bit of money (she subsequently had them valued by a jeweller friend of theirs who believes the wedding ring to be worth between €2,500-€3,000 and the engagement ring around €1,000 at a rough estimate) she left them with bar staff at the historic watering hole – but still nobody has claimed them.
“I left them both behind the bar with the owner with my name and number, but after a week or so nobody had come, so I said I’d be as well out looking for this person myself,” said Amanda.
“I’ve tried everything since; I’ve been in with the gardai, I’ve had it in the local newsletter and everything, but no one’s come forward so far.
“I’m awake every night thinking ‘what can I do next?’. I can only imagine if I lost mine my husband would have to kill me or leave me!”
