Car and almost 40,000 cigs seized by Revenue in west Dublin

Revenue officers seized more than 39,800 cigarettes following the search of a car and a premises in Dublin 15.

The cigarettes, along with the car in which they were transported, were seized in an intelligence led operation targeting the illegal importation and distribution of contraband cigarettes within the Dublin region.
 
The combined retail value of the cigarettes, branded "Marlboro", is €20,895, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of approximately €16,656.
 
Two men were interviewed and investigations are ongoing with a view to prosecution.
