NOBODY was injured after an empty double decker bus rolled backwards down a ramp at Dublin Airport this morning.

Sources at the scene said the matter was under investigation but it appears that the bus had rolled backwards down the ramp leading to Terminal 2, demolished a set of traffic lights and a trolley bay, and then crossed two lanes of traffic to the airport car park before finally coming to a halt on a grass embankment.

The incident left a trail of destruction and the Bus Eireann double decker blocking the car park entrance lane.

Sources said there were no passengers or driver on the bus at the time of the incident.

The back window of the 161 D registered coach was smashed and some damage caused to the bodywork, but the main damage was to the street furniture and airport equipment.

Signage and traffic lights were flattened as the bus rolled over them and airport police were forced to close the entrance lanes to the car park as investigations got underway into the cause of the crash. is awaiting comment from Bus Eireann.
