BREAKING: Woman arrested in connection with killer arson attack

A 27-year-old woman was arrested and charged this morning in connection with a fatal arson attack in County Louth.

The suspicious house fire, in which a 73-year-old Eva Berrill, was severely injured and subsequently died, occurred at a house on Cord Road in Drogheda on the 16th of August 2014.

Ms Berrill, who has been confined to a wheelchair for many years following a stroke, was asleep in a downstairs room of the house when the room was suddenly engulfed in flame

When the alarm was raised her neighbour Colin Carter (34) entered the house and managed to evacuate the Ms Berrill to safety.

The woman, who is currently in custody, is due to appear before Drogheda District Court this morning at 10.30am.
