The man, who Gardai say was aged in his early 40s, was discovered with apparent stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers in Tipperary were responding to an incident at a residential property at The Maltings, Roscrea, when they made the discovery.

Shortly after a woman, also reported to be in her 40s, was arrested.

She is currently being detained at Nenagh Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

The man is from Eastern Europe and is understood to have been living and working in Dublin. The woman arrested is also from Eastern Europe, but is not from the same country as the deceased.

They are understood to have been known to each other.

The man's body remains at the scene, Gardai said, and the State Pathologist has been notified.
