The bodies of a man and woman found dead in a house in Co Antrim are understood to have lain undiscovered for some time.

Police remained at the scene in the seaside town of Ballycastle this morning.

The bodies were found in the property in the Abbey area of the town last night after 9pm.

Few details about the man and woman have been disclosed.

Police said the investigation was at a very early stage and inquiries were ongoing to establish the cause of their deaths.

PSNI inspector Pete Duncan said: "Enquiries are on-going to establish the cause of death at present and are at a very early stage."

Forensic investigators have examined the house, investigators added.

A spokesman for the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said they were called to house at 21:25pm on Thursday after a report the two bodies had been found.
