BREAKING: Staff evacuated following bomb threat
UP TO 4,000 workers have been evacuated from three different Apple plants in Cork amid a possible security threat, it is understood.
Gardai are at the scene and have confirmed that three plants have been evacuated.
It is understood that the firm's premises on Lavitts Quay, Hollyhill and Model Farm Road are those affected.
The army bomb squad have to be requested by gardai to attend a scene, and as such when gardai were informed of the potential threat this morning they informed the Defence Forces who then in turn put a regional unit of bomb disposal engineer specialist search teams on standby for possible attendance at the the Hollyhill and Lavitts Quay sites in Cork.
Gardai were assisting in searches on the buildings after the security threat was issued this morning at around 9am.
No viable device has been found and staff are returning to work, reports RTE.
