The Tanaiste Joan Burton was blocked from leaving the ‘Skills For Work Week’ event in Clondalkin, Dublin, by protesters today.

reports indicate that Minister Burton was held up by the demonstrators for a time this afternoon.

Last November Ms Burton was surrounded by protesters in Jobstown, Tallaght.

She spent several hours in her car before the demonstrators allowed her to leave.

The Tanaiste was also struck with a water balloon two days after the blockade.

A number of arrests, including Anti-Austerity Alliance TD Paul Murphy, were made in connection with the Jobstown incident.+

The Irish Independent reports that dozens of protesters surrounded Ms Burton's 2013 registered black Audi as she left the event at Musgrave Retail Partners in Fonthill Retail Park just before midday.

There was a strong Garda presence as the car in which Ms Burton travelled was forced to slow to a crawl, bringing vehicles behind to a stop while the protesters chanted.
