Man arrested over “savage Wright Venue assault“
A man in his 30s has been arrested in connection with an alleged savage attack that left a Dublin man fighting for his life.
The man was arrested in the early hours of Sunday 7th of March and is currently being held at Swords Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
Christy Fitzgerald, was allegedly set upon outside The Wright Venue in Swords in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Fitzgerald, who is a father in his 30s, was believed to be at a birthday celebration before the alleged attack took place.
Emergency services were called to the scene at the Wright Venue in Airside Retail Park, Swords, at 3.40am and the injured man was then taken by ambulance to Beaumont Hospital where he was said to be gravely ill.
Fitzgerald is known to gardaí and was sentenced for five years in the past for his part in a robbery in 2002.
