Gardai seize huge amount of MDMA and heroin
Gardai have seized over €1 million worth of drugs, officers have said, following a major operation in the capital.
Gardai from the National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau seized the large amount of drugs in an operation in west Dublin.
As part of ongoing investigations targeting serious criminal activity a planned operation was carried out in the Clondalkin area yesterday evening, Gardai said.
During the operation officers intercepted two cars and subsequently searched an apartment.
Approximately 12 kilos worth of of MDMA (Methylenedioxymethamphetamine) along with 3 kilos of heroin was seized.
Four males, aged from their 30s to their 60s, were arrested as part of the investigation.
They are currently detained at Clondalkin and Ronanstown Garda Stations under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996. They can be detained for up to 7 days.
The combined street value of the controlled drugs seized is estimated at €1,100,000, pending analysis.
The investigation is ongoing, Gardai said, and further updates will follow.
