Four arrested following raids by armed gardai and dog unit

Four men were arrested and a quantity of drugs has been seized following raids in Athy, Co Kildare.

Armed gardai from the Regional Support Unit and the dog unit conducted 11 raids in the Athy area and one in Newbridge over the last few days.

The raids have uncovered a quantity of cannabis, heroin and cocaine worth €30,000 and an imitation firearm was also seized.

Four men were arrested aged between 31-35 years and were detained under Section 4, Criminal Justice Act and three have since been released without charge.

A file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

A fourth male was charged and appeared before CCJ Parkgate St on the 23rd December 2015.

He was remanded on bail to appear before Athy District Ct at 10.30am on the 12th January 2016.
