Body of man found in burnt-out car in secluded woodland
Gardai are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the body of a man found in a burning car.
The grim discovery was made at approximately 5pm this evening at a location in north Cork.
The vehicle was found ablaze in an isolated woodland area between Fermoy and Ballyhooly, Gardai confirmed.
The unidentified man was pronounced dead at the scene at Cappagh Cross.
Gardai say they are keeping an open mind with regards to the investigation but said the death was "not thought to be suspicious".
The area has been sealed off and Gardai are working on establishing the man's identity.
His body has been removed and a full post-mortem examination will be carried out by Assistant State Pathologist Dr Margaret Bolster at Cork University Hospital (CUH).
