Body discovered in Dublin

The body of a male has been discovered on waste ground at Cherry Orchard Parade in Ballyfermot, Dublin 10.

Reports indicate that the discovery was made at approximately 6.30am this morning near a roundabout close to the Cherry Orchard train station.

The body was discovered by a member of the public.

Reports indicate that the man suffered a gunshot wound.

A shotgun was found nearby.

The victim is believed to be a local man in his 20s.

The scene is currently preserved pending a Garda Technical Examination and the body remains at the scene.

The office of the State Pathologist has been notified and Dr Michael Curtis is due to do a preliminary examination.

Gardai are investigating all circumstances into his death before making a decision on the nature of their enquiry.
