The young girl was travelling on the back of a moped when a gunman fired a number of shots at her father.
A man was being questioned last night after the horror shooting, which is believed to be linked to a local feud.
It is understood that the child’s father, 37, was rushed to hospital with bullet injuries to his leg but that she was uninjured. His injuries were not life threatening.
The latest incident is not the first shooting in Ballyfermot which involved a young child.
