Boy (16) killed in single-car crash


A 16-year-old passenger in a car has died after it crashed in Tipperary yesterday.

According to gardai the fatal crash took place at Boston on the Ballingarry North to Cloughjordan road yesterday afternoon at approximately 3.45pm.

The teenager who was fatally injured was a rear seat passenger in a car that collided with a tree.  

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to University Hospital Limerick.

Two other people in the car, a 22-year-old man and a 17-year old girl, were taken to Tullamore Hospital and University Hospital Limerick.

The man is described as being in a serious condition.

The section of road was closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

It has since reopened.
