Body of woman missing since July found
The body of an elderly woman who had been missing since the summer has been found, authorities have said.
Gardai confirmed the body of missing woman Breda Delaney was recovered from the sea off the coast of Scotland.
Delaney (72) went missing from her home at Avondale Court, Blackrock, County Dublin on 11 July.
"Breda’s family and An Garda Síochána wish to thank everybody involved in the search," gardai said in a statement tonight.
The former university lecturer was the subject of a widespread search following her disappearance.
Her daughter paid tribute to her on Facebook and thanked everybody who had been involved in the search.
She said she could take some “solace” in now finally being able to lay her mother to rest.
“My mother Breda's body has been recovered from the sea,” she said.
“We are so, so grateful to everyone who helped with the search.
“We miss her so much and always will. There is solace, all the same, in knowing that we can now lay her body to rest.
“She was loving and beloved, thoughtful and generous, with a kind heart and a brilliant mind.
“May she rest in peace."
