Body of woman discovered on rocks at a south Dublin bay identified

Gardai have identified the woman whose body was discovered on the rocks at Sandycove, Dublin.

The woman - who is believed to be between 50 and 60 years of age - was discovered at Scotsmans Bay in Sandycove yesterday morning.

She is described as being of between 5'4'' to 5'6'' in height, with red hair.

The woman was wearing a purple coat, light blue fleece, a red shirt, dark purple jeans, navy socks and brown size-40 boots. 

Her fingernails were painted purple.

Post-mortem results reveal that the woman had drowned.

Gardai do not believe the body was in the water for a long period of time.

The authorities have thanked the public for their assistance in this matter.
