Body found in search for missing student Michael Bugler
A body has been found in the search for young Galway student Michael Bugler.
The body was spotted by the search party approximately 20 metres offshore at Oranmore, Co Galway, gardai confirmed to Independent.ie.
"There has been a body located in the search for Mr Bugler," a garda spokesperson said.
"The male body was removed from the sea in Oranmore and has been removed to University Hospital Galway by the RNLI.
"It has not yet been identified."
Galway RNLI Lifeboat launched from Galway Docks shortly after 12.20pm following a request from local gardai.
The casualty was taken onboard the lifeboat and transported back to the docks.
The young man was pronounced dead at the lifeboat station at 1.20pm and was removed to University Hospital Galway.
Michael Bugler (20) has been missing since December 18.
The law student was last seen at around 1am on the Friday morning after he left the Quay's Bar in the city.
The last sighting of Mr Bugler was at Claddagh Church.
"CCTV footage tracks him as far as passing the Claddagh Church at 00.58am as he appears to be on his way home to Fairhill Road," his sister Laura said at the time.
