Emergency services responded to an armed stand-off in Limerick this evening which has ended without incident.

Crews from Limerick City Fire and Rescue, along with ambulances and Gardai, including the Armed Regional Support Unit, were attending an incident on Mallow Street in the city.

Negotiations have concluded with a male individual who was reportedly armed with a knife.

Reports suggest he was threatening to jump from a window at a high rise apartment block on the city-centre street.

The area around Mallow Street had been cordoned off for two hours while Gardai and emergency services dealt with the incident.

Several units from the Limerick City Fire and Rescue were at the scene, along with an elevated platform lift.
