A teenage girl was sexually assaulted in a cemetery by a man in his 40s in Belfast, it has been revealed.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the teenager was attacked in the City Cemetery  in the west of the city on the morning of Saturday, 30 May.

She was approached by the man, who is described as clean shaven with short black hair and of medium build, and was assaulted by him.

A woman came to the girl’s aid afterwards and gave her a lift to Downpatrick.

Police are seeking to speak with her and she is said to have been driving a red car and was wearing a uniform of some description, and had blonde hair tied up in a ponytail.
