An Garda Siochana are advertising for three 'Armourers' to take care of the force's arsenal of weapons.

An advert for the three vacancies appeared on the Garda website this morning.

It states that candidates must be qualified as a 'Fitter Turner holding an Advanced Certificate Craft – Mechanical Automation and Maintenance Fitting at level 6 (NFQ) or an equivalent recognised qualification'.

The other requirement is that candidates 'must also be a qualified Armourer with a minimum of 5 years experience and hold certification in a range of handguns, rifles and other automatic and semi-automatic weapons. Candidates must also hold a full Class B Irish driving licence or equivalent with no endorsements.'

The job itself involves the inspection, maintenance and repair of the force's existing weaponry as well as a role in testing any new firearms that the Gardai may acquire.

The job pays well too, with a salary of €48,512.30 on offer for those who get the gig.

Applications close on July 6 and if you think the job is for you, you can apply here.
