Aer Lingus flight forced to make emergency landing

Aer Lingus flight EI 110 was forced to make an emergency landing in New York last night.

Reports indicate that a technical fault was discovered on the aircraft.

The flight took off from JFK airport last night at approximately 7pm (local time) but was forced to ground shortly afterwards.

All 110 passengers aboard the flight bound for Ireland disembarked from the plane safely at JFK airport.

The flight was due to land at Shannon Airport at 6am (Irish time).

Aer Lingus said all passengers would be accommodated on later flights.
