30-year-old woman killed in collision

A woman in her 30s died following a collision on the R628, Castlelyons to Conna road in Cork today.

Reports indicate that the woman's car struck an SUV at approximately 8:30am today.

The woman driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene and her body has been removed to the morgue at Cork University Hospital.

The driver of the SUV, a man in his late 30s, was injured in the collision and he was brought to Cork University Hospital where he is believed to be in a stable condition.

The road remains closed to facilitate a forensic collision investigation and local diversions are in place.
