There were crazy scenes in St Etienne this evening after Croatia v Czech Republic's Euro 2016 group game was temporarily stopped after Croatian supporters hurled a number of flares onto the pitch.

UPDATE: 19.52:

UEFA have confirmed they will open disciplinary proceedings over the crowd trouble during the Croatia/Czech Republic clash

One of the flares appeared to explode in the face of a steward who attempted to remove it from the pitch.

The actions of Croatia's fans had a terrible impact on their team, with Czech Republic - who had been trailing 2-0 - roaring back with two late goals to nick a draw.

After being warned following the first game about using flares, it will be interesting to see what action, if any, UEFA take.

"If fans could bring a few flares into the grounds, you'd wonder what else they could bring in to the grounds," Didi Hamann said on RTE.

"They will have to take a serious look at their security that we thought had been looked at.

"Very worrying and a shame for Croatia."

Before the incident, Croatia had looked irresistible, with goals from Ivan Perisic and Ivan Rakitic putting them two goals in front. Now, they sit atop Group C with four points, although Spain, on three points, play Turkey later tonight.
