WAG Rebecca Guthrie blows away X Factor judges at audition
Footballer Danny Guthrie's wife Rebecca wowed the judges when she auditioned for The X Factor last week (10Jun16).
Rebecca auditioned for Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh, Nicole Scherzinger and Sharon Osbourne at Leicester’s King Power stadium, the home of Premier League winners Leicester City F.C., on Friday, and is said to have blown away the panel with her talent.
According to The Sun newspaper, Rebecca told the judges that while she is currently only famous for being the wife of Premier League star Danny, she is determined to make a name and career for herself.
And she kicked off that process in style with a stunning audition that had everyone talking.
"Rebecca was one of the stand-out contestants from the day. When she told the judges she was a WAG, no one expected what followed," a source told The Sun newspaper.
"The buzz about her went around the place very quickly. People were talking about her as a potential winner. The judges were blown away. She told them she was married to a professional footballer but wanted to make a name in her own right.
"Everyone, including the judges, thought it was funny that at the home of the Premier League champions they get a WAG walk through the door."
ITV bosses are hoping the revamped judging panel will help boost ratings of the show, following a disappointing reaction last year.
Louis is back after a one-year absence from the show, while Sharon and Nicole have also both won over viewers with previous appearances on the panel for the programme.
Speaking to Good Morning Britain earlier this month (Jun16), Nicole admits she is looking forward to returning to the programme, and to London.
"I'm so excited. I miss England, I haven't been there in a while," she smiled. "It's my second home and I'm happy to be with Sharon and Louis, I haven't seen them for a while, and Simon of course."
Asked what fans can expect from her appearance on the show this year, Nicole replied: "I think we're just going to have a lot of fun this year."
