Touker Suleyman: Peter Jones is a boozy Dragon!
Touker Suleyman can't keep up with his Dragons' Den co-star Peter Jones on boozy nights out.
The Cyprus-born entrepreneur has joined the panel of the popular BBC 2 show that sees business hopefuls pitch their ideas in a bid to score investment.
Peter and Touker have already stirred things up on screen, often vying for the same contestants. But off-screen they are close pals and head down to the pub when filming wraps - even if Peter does drink his colleague under the table.
“I enjoy winding Peter up and he enjoys winding me up. Peter is 6ft 7in and I am 5ft 6in so physically he is much bigger than me," Touker admitted to British newspaper The Sun.
“Of course, he outdoes me when it comes to drinking wine in the evenings. That is his passion and I can’t keep up with him. He outdrinks me every time.
“But he is always sharp in the Den the next day, always as fresh as a button."
Peter is somewhat of an expert, having sat on the panel since the show started in 2005. The other Dragons have chopped and changed over the years, with the current line-up rounded out by Deborah Meaden, who has starred since 2006, and Nick Jenkins and Sarah Willingham, who joined with Touker this year.
As one of the newbies, Touker knows to respected Peter and Deborah's years of experience.
“When we are off the set, we are great friends," he smiled.
“Bearing in mind that Peter and Deborah Meaden have been on the show for a long time, they have been amazing at how they have made the new Dragons feel at home.
"They have been great. But when we are in the Den we have to do what we have got to do. We are investing our own money and we try and make that happen.”
