Tom Bleasby leaves X Factor
Tom Bleasby has sensationally quit The X Factor just hours after it was confirmed he'd made it through to the judges' houses section of the show.
The singer was competing in the boys' category under the mentorship of DJ Nick Grimshaw. On Sunday night (11Oct15) viewers watched as Nick's group competed in the controversial six-chair challenge, which sees successful candidates given a seat if their audition is good enough. They can steal chairs from each other though, with those left in them at the end setting off for judges' houses - where the finalists will be decided.
Tom was the first up and received a chair, but he was later asked to leave the stage in favour of another singer. When the audience erupted in horror, Nick eventually brought him back - but it seems the stress was too much for the hopeful.
"Due to personal reasons I have decided to withdraw from The X Factor. Thank you to all the judges, especially Nick for his belief in me," Tom wrote on Twitter on Monday night (12Oct15).
"I want to wish all the contestants the best of luck and thank you to the public for supporting me and my dream."
This followed a Sunday night missive which appeared to show how greatly the six-chair challenge had affected him.
"You are literally watching on TV the worst experience of my life," he said.
Later on Monday, Tom explained he was not giving up singing. Rather he'd realised that being part of The X Factor just wasn't the right move for him at this time.
Nick was quick to reach out to his former category member and showed there are no hard feelings.
"well done Tom for handling the pressure of the circus that is 6chair! and best of luck for the future x (sic)," he tweeted.
