TG4 hit leads the way with 10 IFTA nominations

Game of Thrones, Vikings and Striking Out have all been left in the dark as TG4’s brilliant An Klondike has once again swept the board at the announcement of this year’s IFTA nominations.

The gripping drama set in 19th century Canada during the gold rush has trumped the mega shows for the second year running with a massive 10 nominations across all of the IFTA Film and Drama categories.
The 8-episode show was the surprise winner at last year’s star-studded event when it walked away with four wins, including Best TV Drama.
Vikings, based loosely on the 12th century raiding and pillaging of Norse king Ragnar Lothbrok, is the next big winner on nomination day with five nods.
Jon Snow’s efforts in Winterfell have bagged four nominations with Dubliner Liam Cunningham expected to win Best Supporting Actor.
Superstar-of-the-moment Ruth Negga is up for top gongs in both the TV and film sections thanks to her Oscar-nominated stint in Loving as well as her role as Tulip O’Hare in AMC’s TV show Preacher.
Other big winners are the hilarious comedy Young Offenders which earned six movie nominations while the 1960s peacekeeping movie Siege of Jadotville which was shown in select cinemas as well as on Netflix bagged seven nominations.
The ceremony will take place on Saturday April 8th in Dublin.
