Stevi Ritchie: I worry Chloe will leave me
Stevi Ritchie's name-calling days will stay with him his entire life.
The former X Factor contestant hasn't shied away from the limelight since his stint on the talent show last year. It was during this period that he met his fiancée Chloe-Jasmine and after a brief fling during filming, the couple began dating last December and announced their engagement in July.
Despite being loved up, Stevi admits he suffers from anxiety after a tough time as a youngster.
"I know I'm not the best singer or the best looking guy in the world. Sometimes I think, 'You're fat' or 'You're ugly,'" he told Closer magazine. "I guess [it stems from] my childhood. I was called names at school - the other kids would say I looked like a mole, or that I was ugly. It's hard because that name-calling stays with you your whole life."
To add to these troubles, Stevi's dad had a stroke when he was 12 and the star was left terrified, often suffering nightmares and wetting the bed.
When he turned 18 Stevi attended drama school in London, but found his worries didn't cease. It's a constant struggle for the star, whose fears even affect his relationship.
"I love [Chloe] so much. We became good friends living in the X Factor house together and I didn't even fancy her at first," he said of his blonde wife-to-be. "But we really connected and now we're getting married. We're so happy. But, if I'm honest, I still get frightened that Chloe might run off with someone else. She is beautiful and I'm just an average, normal-looking guy."
There's no doubting Chloe is smitten though as the pair put on a public display of affection at the Believe In Magic charity ball in London earlier this week. And the loved up pair could be returning to our TV screens before we know it as they are rumoured to be announced for the new line-up of Celebrity Big Brother.
