Stephanie Davis turned to booze to block out stress
Axed 'Hollyoaks' star Stephanie David used to guzzle down booze to help block out the "stress" of her life.
The 22-year-old actress was dropped by the Channel 4 show last year following allegations she used to turn up to set drunk but, although she has admitted she did occasionally go out partying the night before work, she's adamant she never stumbled in late stinking of alcohol.
She explained: "I did go into work after a night out once or twice, but who hasn't done that? I just wanted to be a normal girl and alcohol was a way for me to relax.
"That was all exaggerated and blown out of proportion. There was once or twice where I went in after a night out, but I was never drunk. I was enjoying a glass of wine because it helped me forget about the stress of work and pressures of being in this industry."
The beauty - who played loudmouth Sinead O'Connor in the soap for six years - believes she first became reliant on the bottle to block out her stress a few years ago when she sadly lost her grandmother and broke up with her boyfriend.
She said: "I went through a really tough time a few years ago where I did rely on it (alcohol) a bit, but that was when I was unhappy in a relationship."
However, Stephanie, who is rumoured to be joining 'Celebrity Big Brother tomorrow night (05.01.16), believes she's in a much better place since turning her back on 'Hollyoaks' and finding love with her new beau Sam Reece.
Explaining her ideal night now she's in a new relationship, she told OK! magazine: "I'm settled so I prefer staying in with Sam and watching a film with a bottle of wine."
