Samantha Womack 'calls cops on scary stalker'

EastEnders actress Samantha Womack reportedly called police on a stalker who had camped outside her family home.

The 42-year-old, who plays Ronnie Mitchell in the BBC One soap, has two children with her husband Mark. But the family are said to have been left shaken recently when a man camped outside their home keeping tabs on them and sent the star a love letter.

“This stalker has become completely obsessed with her and has been sleeping outside her house so that he can spy on her,” a source told British newspaper The Sun. “The family are terrified that he will try to get into the grounds of the property or even the house. Sam has also received a weird love letter from this oddball that really disturbed her. The whole situation is an absolute nightmare and has really shaken up Sam and the family.”

Soap bosses have reportedly stepped up security around the actress following the man’s letter. Police are also investigating a series of incidents that have taken place near the family home in Bedfordshire.

“Everything became too much and on Thursday they decided to call in the police. Officers are taking this all very seriously and are actively pursuing the person they believe is responsible,” the insider continued. “Hopefully they will catch them soon and all this can be brought to an end once and for all.”

Samantha’s husband has also received threats according to the source.

The star has been on the receiving end of unwanted public attention before, particularly after the soaps controversial baby swap storyline in 2011. Samantha became so stressed from the situation that she left the show in 2013 but returned a year later.

“Sam has already been through a great deal during her time playing Ronnie. The baby-swap storyline was incredibly stressful and forced her to re-evaluate everything,” the insider added. “This latest drama is the last thing she needs and has made her feel very vulnerable.”
