COMEDY duo The Rubberbandits have placed an ad on an adult website to recruit ‘ordinary couples’ and porn stars to have live sex for a shocking new RTÉ show.

The madcap Limerick presenters will star in a four-part series which has been commissioned by RTÉ following the success of The Rubberbandits’ Guide to 1916.

One of the episodes will see Blindboy Boatclub and Mr Chrome educate the nation on sex.

And, in a first for Irish TV, the Rubberbandits are looking to hire couples to have sex live on camera while they look on and comment.

After answering an ad, our reporter was told by the producers that the plastic-bag wearing pair may provide commentary to the couple as they preform,

“I don’t think there will be any intrusive behaviour, there might be some outside pointing, ‘this is what that looks like’,” said a producer.

The Rubberbandits are planning to get up close and personal as porn stars and a yet-to-be-chosen couple enjoy a steamy tryst on TV – all in the name of sex education.

The boys may not be stripping off, but they’re planning to get in on the X-rated action to examine the public’s relationship with hard-core porn.

The steamy series, which will be produced by Happy Endings Productions, is set to commence filming shortly and professional porn actors and ordinary couples are being asked to take part in live sex sessions on camera for cash.
A spokesperson for the national broadcaster told the Sunday World this week that the series, which doesn’t have a title yet, is currently being worked on and will broadcast “later in the year.”

Sex on TV is nothing new on British reality shows, where contestants have been bonking for years.

Sex Box on Channel 4, billed as an academic study, is nothing more than a couple having sex and then talking about it afterwards.

Big Brother has also had its fair share of on-screen romps, with the current series featuring Hughie Maughan from Ballymun proving no different.

On a surprise birthday visit last week even his mum told him he needed to “calm things down” when it came to his bedroom antics.

The Rubberbandits will be up against Big Brother and Love Island when it comes to shocking viewers.

Love Island takes 12 young people to Majorca where they compete for a £50,000 prize to be the cutest couple.

The Rubberbandits’ recruitment ad, which was posted to back-page.com specifies: “Professional Porn Actors & Ordinary Couples wanted for paid TV gig. I’m working on a TV programme that examines our relationship to sex.

The ad reads: “One: A male and female who are experienced in porn/performing sex on film. We’re looking for one male, one female, both of whom are very good looking, with professional credits in porn, who are in their 20s or 30s, to do a live sex shoot with our crew.

“Two: A regular, average-looking couple in their late 20s/early 30s to do a live sex shoot with our crew.

“Ultimately, these sex clips will be broadcast on a television show, and everyone’s private parts will be covered up with clipart (think bananas and melons). None of the footage will be released anywhere but in the very delicately clipped together television programme.”

Posing as an up-for-it applicant, our reporter made contact with a member of the production team, who confirmed that there will be a live sex shoot.

“You will be covered in sheets and it’s minimal exposure. Your faces would probably be visible, just in case that’s a problem for you,” they told us.

“It’s a show that’s currently being written so I just have a very wide outline, from my understanding there is a possibility, and this isn’t 100 per cent, that the Rubberbandits could walk into the room.

“I don’t think there will be any intrusive behaviour.”

Urging our reporter to be cautious she continued: “I don’t know if you have done anything on film before. There will be a camera man, sound man and possibly a Rubberbandit or two, in the room. We are going to try keep it as limited as possible.

“If you get camera shy just talking normally, if you feel you might be uncomfortable, I would say be very careful before you say yes.

“It is going to be a shoot so if he is nervous or shy, I wouldn’t even put him under that pressure.”

Describing the premise of the show, they said: “In the sex episode, essentially one of the key themes I think they are trying to go with, and again it’s a very light-hearted comedic documentary, is having the archetypal porn star couple doing what you see online and then they want a normal couple – on two separate shoots obviously.

“And they want to make light-hearted jokes like, okay this is what you would to see on the internet and it’s all kinds of crazy and you need to be an Olympian to do it and this is what normal people who love each other look like.

“The gag is that what you see on the internet has nothing got to with what actual people are doing.

“The idea is to make it as comfortable, light-hearted and silly as possible. You guys do your thing, the guys say, ‘look that’s them having sex, they love each other and this looks nothing like the misogynist stuff online’ and that’s it.”
