Richard Blackwood: I’d definitely do Strictly!
EastEnders actor Richard Blackwood would like to do Strictly Come Dancing.
The 43-year-old has been playing bad boy Vincent Hubbard in the BBC One soap since early 2015. His co-star Kellie Bright is currently lighting up the Strictly dance floor on Saturday nights with her dance partner Kevin Clifton, and Richard admits he’d follow her lead in the future.
“If they asked me I’d definitely do it,” Richard told Britain’s The Sun newspaper. “I’m a very good dancer – you name it, I will do it! But I’m a serious dancer, I scare myself! No I would do, I’d happily do it.”
Richard is a man of many talents having also turned his hands to comedy, presenting and music during his career. Dancing could be his next skill, but for now the star is focused on supporting Kellie, known as EastEnders' Linda Carter, all the way to the final.
“I believe Kellie should win,” he said. “She works twice as hard, she deserves to win, just for the hard work she’s putting in! I might put some money down tomorrow. I’ll get paid and I’m gonna put it straight in!”
Richard has been working on TV for years, having started out by presenting the UK version of MTV game show Singled Out before hosting his own show. However, he thinks EastEnders is the pinnacle.
“You’re living the dream,” he explained. “People are very quick to say, ‘Oh I don’t watch EastEnders’, but then they can tell you what’s going on in EastEnders! It’s the show that everybody would like to be a part of. Every actor would love to be a part of EastEnders, so to be able to say that’s a part of my CV, it’s the greatest thing in the world.”
