Paul Hollywood: I've got OCD

The Great British Bake Off's Paul Hollywood is battling OCD.

The TV judge, who stars alongside Mary Berry in the hit BBC 1 baking show, made the confession during his one-off BBC 2 show Licence To Thrill: Paul Hollywood Meets Aston Martin. His Obsessive Compulsive Disorder manifests when he is working on his motor.

"I wonder if I love it a little too much," he admitted. "You look for little nicks and if I see one my heart misses a beat. It (the nick) is just sitting there winding me up - it’s ruining the car. It is OCD. I’m obsessed with my Aston.”

His OCD has also crept into his other love, baking, with Paul always after the perfect bake. But despite having to sometimes clean his Aston Martin every "couple of hours", the 49-year-old would never part with his pride and joy.

"I still pinch myself that I have a second hand Aston Martin DBS Volante, the convertible model of James Bond’s car from Quantum of Solace and Casino Royale," he smiled.

Paul's latest show isn't his first foray into hosting a motoring programme. Earlier this year he fronted Racing Legends on BBC 2 and an insider previously revealed the channel was keen to capitalise on the silver fox's appeal with viewers.

“Paul is now one of the BBC’s most bankable stars, so they’d be mad not to make the most of his huge popularity," a source told British newspaper The Sun. “He has always been really keen to make motoring shows. He enjoyed making the Racing Legends programme, so he was open to new projects.

“Producers approached him about the Aston Martin special, which is very close to his heart, and after that’s in the can he will start coming up with more ideas for shows."
