Paddy Power giving 3/1 odds on Top Gear being scrapped following James May's decision to leave Top Gear

Paddy Power giving 3/1 odds on Top Gear being scrapped following James May's decision to leave Top Gear

While all the focus has been on who will replace Clarkson on Top Gear, it looks like BBC bosses could be in for the more arduous task of replacing not one ex-presenter, but all three.

With May adamant Top Gear would be a bit ‘lame’ with a new Jeremy taking over, Paddy Power makes it 5/6 – the same odds as a coin toss – for three new presenters to take the helm at the head of a new series.

Dermot O’Leary remains the front runner at 6/4 to be the new Clarkson, followed by actor Philip Glenister at 11/4 and model Jodie Kidd at 5/1.

However this is worrying times for petrol-heads with the fate of the show still very much in the air. For it to be scrapped all together, Paddy is currently offering a skimpy 3/1, down from 5/1 last weekend.

Paddy Power said, “With Clarkson sacked and May following suit, it’s not beyond the realm of possibility Top Gear could end up on the scrapheap”
