MTV hoping to replicate Teen Mom success with UK version
MTV have announced they are launching a U.K. version of hit U.S. reality series Teen Mom.
The series has been a massive hit in America since launching in 2009 as a spin-off from previous show 16 and Pregnant. Now MTV will be hoping for similar success with the British version of the programme, which premieres in November (16).
Describing the new programme, MTV executives explained in a press release: "Teen Mom UK will lift the lid on the real stories of teen pregnancies and parenthood by following the lives of five lovable UK mums and is set to document the highs and lows of teen parenthood.
"It will show the girls taking on some of the biggest challenges and decisions in their life so far. From breakups and managing work/life balance, through to postnatal depression and juggling a social life with caring for a baby, no two teen parent experiences are the same."
Since premiering in 2009, Teen Mom has followed three generations of young mothers, and launched the careers of names such as Farrah Abraham and Jenelle Evans.
Farrah has enjoyed huge success off the back of the series, including an adult movie career and a stint on Celebrity Big Brother.
She is back in the show this year (16) in the programme Teen Mom OG, and said in an interview with Cosmopolitan that she isn't sure how her life would have progressed if it hadn't been for the show.
"I had already planned to get my degrees, which I did," she said. "I wanted to go directly into owning a restaurant. I would have worked solely to own a restaurant. Beyond that, God only knows what I would have done. Maybe I would have done all the other businesses that I'm doing now. I just really love business."
Teen Mom UK will premiere on MTV on 2 November (16) at 8pm.
