Mel Giedroyc presenting Strictly tour
Mel Giedroyc will be fox-trotting over to Strictly Come Dancing to present the 2016 live tour.
Mel and her presenting sidekick Sue Perkins are known to millions for their cheeky cooking innuendos on The Great British Bake Off, but it's more than just soggy bottoms that gets the 47-year-old going.
“Hosting the Strictly Come Dancing Live Tour is a dream come true," she gushed in a statement.
“You do not understand how much I love live shows and how much I love Strictly Come Dancing, so having those two elements together and the idea of thousands of people filling those ¬extraordinary arenas is just incredible."
The Strictly tour sees celebrity guests and their professional dance partners from the latest series waltz the night away.
Mel will be joined by the show's judges Len Goodman, Craig Revel Horwood and Bruno Tonioli.
“As the host, I sort of envisage myself as a Big Top master. In fact, I’m thinking tails, top hat and very, very dominatrix shoes. I will be a stern but loving mistress," Mel revealed.
The 2015 series of Strictly Come Dancing kicked off earlier this month (Sep15), with stars like Kellie Bright, who plays Linda Carter in EastEnders, already wowing on the dance floor.
The tour starts on January 22 at the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham before finishing in London in February, with tickets going on sale from today.
Fans will also be glad to hear Mel isn't hanging up her Bake Off apron just yet. This year has been another smash hit for the BBC, and some of the contestants have found themselves tasting the perks of fame.
“There have been a few marriage proposals, which is absolutely hysterical," baker Flora Shedden giggled to The Sun.
Flora's creative bakes have seen her reach this week's (beg28Sep15) semi-final.
“It’s unbelievably surreal being so close to the final. It was definitely not expected," she added.
“To be in a tent with people so talented is amazing - never mind doing well."
