Love Island's Olivia defends 'flirty' Caroline Flack

Love Island's Olivia Buckland has defended the show's host Caroline Flack and her "flirty" behaviour.

The presenter came under fire for openly flirting with Olivia's boyfriend Alex Bowen in the pair's interview after they had narrowly missed out on taking the £50,000 prize at the show's final. At a bash following the final, Alex posted a snap on Instagram showing him with his arm around Caroline, who looked more than a little happy to be in the hunk's arms.

However, speaking out about the picture, which caused a storm on social media, Olivia insisted: "I was there... it wasn't like that."

"I know that people are looking at the whole Alex picture thing but I was there and it wasn't like that," she told Reveal magazine. "Caroline is lovely but it looks bad on her which is awful because she's amazing - I love her."

Olivia continued to insist that Caroline's flirty nature is just part of her personality, and contributes to her skill as a host.

"Nothing bad happened," OIivia added. "As a presenter you have to be a bit flirty because you need to bring out the confidence and the best in people. I think she's amazing."

And the scandal has done little to dampen Olivia and Alex's honeymoon period, with the pair apparently happier than ever.

Following the show's final, there was some speculation that Caroline might not return for a third series, after her presenting style divided viewers.

However, the stars of this year's series were quick to defend the presenter, with winners Nathan Massey and Cara de la Hoyde leading the way.

Nathan told Reveal, "It's bulls**t, she's an absolute darling of a woman," while Cara added, "You can't have Love Island without Caroline Flack. That's ridiculous."

Meanwhile Sophie Gradon supported Caroline on Twitter, writing: "I (love) Caroline Flack #cutflacksomeslack."
