Louisa Johnson: 'I'll always keep trying'

Louisa Johnson has vowed to keep trying new things following her single's disappointing debut.

The X Factor winner released a cover of Bob Dylan's track Forever Young, but it only managed number nine in the UK chart. Those who have previously triumphed on the programme have usually scored the coveted Christmas number one, but Louisa isn't letting that get her down.

"I have so many ideas so it is a case of trying them out," she told BBC Radio 2. "I am young and I want to portray myself in a fun you way I think it is a case of me going to the studio and trying things out, and they work, and if they don’t they don’t I will have to keep trying.”

The 17-year-old star knows people will be judging her on how her single performed, but she is trying not to think about it too much. All that matters to her is that she is now able to make music.

“I tried to stay as positive as I could," she explained. "It is hard and it is all worth it in the end. I knew whatever the outcome I would be successful. I had to keep that in the back of mind.”

Appearing on The X Factor wasn't Louisa's first time on TV - she actually tried out for Britain's Got Talent several years ago. Simon Cowell is a judge on both shows, and at the time he told the hopeful that he didn't feel she was ready for success. Although it hurt to hear that she "didn't know who she was", looking back Louisa can completely see where the music mogul was coming from.

"I thought yeah I do and thinking back to it now I really, really didn’t," she admitted. “I think it was a blessing in disguise. It has worked out well”
