Louis Tomlinson: 'The X Factor talk is really exciting'

Louis Tomlinson has had "no official conversation" about joining The X Factor.

The 24-year-old One Direction star is hotly tipped to replace Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw on the next series of the ITV show when it airs later this year (16). Louis is no stranger to the programme, having previously aided Simon Cowell during the judges' houses section of the competition.

While the new line-up for the show has yet to be revealed, Louis is keen to voice his interest in taking on the judging role.

"Of course, it’s really exciting," Louis told Britain's The Sun newspaper about the idea of replacing Nick on the panel. "We’ve had no official conversation yet. But yeah, I mean, why wouldn’t I?”

Louis added that he has "relentlessly nagged" X Factor boss Simon about having more involvement in the show.

However, if he wants a judge role, he has some tough competition from others also keen to fill the position.

Craig David has expressed an interest in the job, hoping to use his experience in the music industry to help others fulfil their dreams.

"If Simon came to me with that position, I would definitely think about it," Craig told Digital Spy on the red carpet at the 2016 Brit Awards on Wednesday night (24Feb16).

It was revealed on Friday that Nick was quitting the show after just one year on the panel.

However, speaking about his decision, Nick insisted it had always been his intention to only do one series.

"It was one of those things that I thought about over Christmas when I had some time off, and I thought that it was one of those things that I just definitely wanted to do once," Nick told the Daily Express at the ELLE Style Awards on Tuesday night.

"And I loved it, and I’ll miss it I guess, but I think whoever does it next, they’re going to have the best time, because it’s really, really fun.”
