Lesley Joseph tangoes her way off Strictly Come Dancing

Lesley Joseph became the fifth celebrity voted off Strictly Come Dancing on Sunday night (23Oct16).

The 71-year-old actress told host Tess Daly she had been on a "lovely, lovely, lovely journey" with dance partner Anton du Beke on the BBC TV talent show.

"Learning a new dance every week has just been lovely, working with him (Anton) has been an absolute joy and we've laughed a lot," she smiled. "And yeah it's been just a lovely, lovely, lovely journey and it's come to an end and that's absolutely fine. We've loved it."

The feeling seemed mutual, as Anton struggled to control his emotions when he told Lesley: "I would just like to say thank you very much, you enriched my whole Strictly experience this year. Dancing with you has been an absolute joy.

"You pushed me, I don't know about me pushing you, you pushed me to try and be more creative and make the numbers better and that's just down to you and you're just an absolute joy. And I love you dearly."

Lesley found herself in the dance-off alongside 27-year-old model Daisy Lowe, with both celebrities asked to perform their routines again before the judges decided who to send home.

Birds of a Feather star Lesley and Anton performed their tango routine to Whatever Lola Wants, while Daisy and her partner Aljaz Skorjanec danced the Charleston to The Manhattan Rhythm Kings' Happy Feet.

After both performances it was time for the judges to decide, with Craig Revel-Horwood kicking things off as he told the contestants: "I love both couples for completely different reasons. But for me tonight, for precision, for an improved performance in this particular Dance Off, and finishing on time, the couple I would like to save is Daisy and Aljaz."

Darcey Bussell and Bruno Tonioli also opted to send Lesley home, with head judge Len Goodman concurring: "I did agree. I would have saved Daisy and Aljaz."
